World Down Syndrome Day is a global awareness day has been officially observed on March 21 by the United States since 2012.
This date was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome that people with Down syndrome have.
We encourage everyone to wear blue and yellow on March 21 in support of WDSD Day.

A note from the nurses regarding treats: Please make sure that any ?treats? that you send to school (i.e. for birthday treats, a special event, etc.) be prepackaged with a manufacturer?s ingredient list and Nutrition Facts label available or be a fresh fruit or vegetable. Please do not send homemade treats. We also ask that you not purchase treats that have any type of nut in them. This is due to an increasing incidence of life-threatening allergies in our school population.
Our FIRST choice/recommendation would be a non-food item.
The focus of allergy management is prevention, and we are committed to providing a safe environment for ALL students.

Two changes have been made to our school calendar:
1- Thursday, March 14, will now be a REGULAR SCHOOL DISMISSAL at 3:20. It will not be a ? Day for Conferences. Parent Teacher Conferences will be that day from 3:30-8:00.
2- We will have a regular school day (with students) on Monday, April 1, instead of a Professional Development Day.

8th Graders - Reserve the date! Cheer auditions for next school year will be on April 12 at 6:30pm. Dancers that want to audition for the Competition Dance Team will also audition on April 12 after cheer auditions. Dancers that want to participate in dance team (performing at basketball half time) but do not want to compete; do NOT need to audition this year. Please sign up outside of Coach Hurst?s room to express your interest in cheer/dance. Please watch the announcements for future audition information.

Northwest Iowa 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament forms for Boys and Girls in 4th-12th Grade are in the MS Office. Forms must be mailed in by March 16.

They are in Mrs. Hurst?s room. You can come before or after school to purchase a hat.

Genius Time Project - We are having a co-ed volleyball tournament on March 30, it will be located in the Sioux Center High School gym. The signup sheets are in the office, they are due back by March 15. It will be five dollars per person. There will also be a small prize for the winning team. Freshmen - If you haven?t turned in your dental screening yet this year, please turn it in this week. All freshmen with no dental screening turned in will have a basic teeth screening by a dental hygienist on March 28. (To opt out, have parents send a signed note to nurse Sarah) If you have seen a dentist in the last year, please call your dentist office to have a form filled out to turn into the school. World Down Syndrome Day is a global awareness day has been officially observed on March 21 by the United States since 2012.
This date was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome that people with Down syndrome have.
We encourage everyone to wear blue and yellow on March 21 in support of WDSD Day.

A note from the nurses regarding treats: Please make sure that any ?treats? that you send to school (i.e. for birthday treats, a special event, etc.) be prepackaged with a manufacturer?s ingredient list and Nutrition Facts label available or be a fresh fruit or vegetable. Please do not send homemade treats. We also ask that you not purchase treats that have any type of nut in them. This is due to an increasing incidence of life-threatening allergies in our school population.
Our FIRST choice/recommendation would be a non-food item.
The focus of allergy management is prevention, and we are committed to providing a safe environment for ALL students.

Two changes have been made to our school calendar:

All freshmen with no dental screening turned in will have a basic teeth screening by a dental hygienist on March 28.
